Chad Forest

Eastern District

Chad Forest operates a farm south of Richland, in northeast Montana, alongside his wife Jackie, their two children, Easton and Kinsley, and his parents. They cultivate a variety of crops, including wheat, durum, yellow peas, lentils, chickpeas, canola, and flax, using a continuous crop no-till method. While diversity in crops presents challenges, it is also crucial for thriving in uncertain times. With tariffs on the horizon, high interest rates, and rising machinery costs, determining the right decisions can be difficult, if not impossible. However, one undeniable truth remains: the world needs to eat. Whether it’s chickpea curry, fries cooked in canola oil, or bread for your subway sandwich, agriculture is integral to our everyday lives. This reality fills me with optimism, knowing that our industry is here to stay!
